EnAqua-Dialog

Conception and execution of an adaptive dialogue process for implementation projects using the example of regional hydrogen hubs

Hydrogen production is an essential building block for the success of the energy transition, but is also subject to considerable conflicts of use due to the increasing scarcity of water in parts of Germany.

The EnAqua-Dialog project uses a participatory process to develop suitable solutions for the interaction between hydrogen production on the one hand and competing water uses on the other. An applied scientific consortium is developing the EnAqua-Dialog and implementing it as a model with expert stakeholders from the North-West and Ruhr metropolitan regions. The research project aims to close the knowledge gaps in the area of the so-called energy-water nexus and defuse regional conflicts of interest.

As part of this hybrid participation process, exemplary solutions for the most consensual planning of hydrogen plants will be presented. The experience gained from the exemplary EnAqua-Dialog is also intended to be successfully transferred nationwide in the long term.

EPC fulfills the following tasks in the project:

  • Concept creation and development of the dialogue process,
  • implementation of the dialogue process in the two model regions and
  • documentation of the results of the dialogue processes.
