The increasing heatwaves caused by climate change pose major challenges for the healthcare system and society as a whole. With a state-wide heat action plan (HAP), Thuringia is pursuing the goal of protecting the population and, in particular, the most vulnerable population groups from the dangers of increasing heat events.
By means of an extensive participation process and with scientific and analytical expertise, a strategic framework for action for heat prevention is being developed with the HAP. This action plan, which is effective both in acute situations and in the long term, serves as a practical guide for crisis management and prevention in Thuringia.
EPC
- coordinates the development of the heat action plan,
- involves and networks numerous stakeholder organizations at state and municipal level and
- organizes specialist workshops and network meetings.
With the participation of many specialist stakeholders from Thuringia, EPC is enabling the creation of a practical action plan and is also initiating a state-wide network for heat prevention.
