LEAP – Leadership for Energy Action and Planning
The LEAP project has been established in 2011 to facilitate a network of pan-European municipalities to plan and deliver local sustainable energy solutions in line with the Covenant of Mayors.
A partnership of ten organisations from seven European Union (EU) countries have come together to improve their capacity as key actors in speeding up the local uptake of sustainable energy measures and the move towards a low-carbon local economy. This is essential in order to achieve the EU’s challenging energy and climate targets for 2020.
The LEAP project will improve local energy leadership primarily through an extensive programme of activity centred around the exchange of experience and capacity-building between ‘learning’ and ‘experienced’ LEAP partners. The LEAP project was initiated in May 2011 and will run until November 2013. LEAP is co-financed by the European Union’s Intelligent Energy – Europe programme, which is managed by the Executive Agency for Competiveness and Innovation.
EPC supports the City of Hagen mainly in implementing its activities as work package leader and enhances the communication flow between the City of Hagen and the other project partners.
