Renewable Energy-Potentials Bochum-Ost

The Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT develops in cooperation with EPC a part of a climate protection concept, that approaches the development of available renewable energy potentials of the city of Bochum in the districts of Laer, Altenbochum, Goy and Steinkuhl. Considered are biomass, wind, solar and geothermal energy. The aim of the project is mainly to detect and analyze the potential, in that respect all activities in the field of climate protection and sustainability are target-oriented, efficiently and synergistically planned and implemented.

Initially in the project, an inventory and needs analysis is performed to collect data of the current energy supply and production situation. The subsequent potential analysis includes the calculation of the renewable energy potential, the capture of the efficiency potential and the creation of greenhouse gas scenarios.

An important part of the project ascribed to EPC, includes the integration of local actors (including Economic Development, investors, local building associations, Chamber of Crafts, energy providers and producers, public administration and political actors) whose interests and goals are taken into account and included in the concept. In order to achieve this, among other thingsnare carried out: workshops, telephone interviews and specialized dialogues.

Based on the analysis of the data material, the modeling and the graphical presentation of information and the results of stakeholder participation, concrete recommendations are summarized in a list of measures. In parallel, a controlling tool for the estimation of the reduction potential of CO2 emissions will be developed.

The creation of a specific concept for the sustainable implementation of PR and promotional activities aimed at the later stages of implementation and will serve the client as a future guide to action.
